Uh-oh. Puberty is here. Rufus tinkles on everything and anything outside and wets his tummy fur. Gross. And he's becoming brown! And tangled. But he's still sweet and obedient. He tries new gimmicks out for size more often and sometimes barks at me, but in the end he always submits to me. Look here, brownish fur:
We still walk outside off leash most of the time. So long as there is no other dogs, especially jumpy ones, he always comes when I call and heels nicely. First we do ten minutes on the leash and heeling, then running in the woods and chasing balls and then ten more minutes heling with some extra exercises. He's really impressive. I brought him to drop off C at kindergarten today, and although he did bark a couple of times when the kids called for him and he wanted to run over, after a couple of commands he just lay down and waited. How cool is that for a really active 7-month old male? He really loves kids, he likes the action and play. As soon as he gets better control over his movements and realizes his size he's gonna be awesome with children.
And he's such a pretty dog!
Last week he was tought some valueable lessons on etiquette by Ambra, a 7-year old apricot poodle. She didn't get across to him about the obnoxious butt sniffing he did (very intrusive) by using body language, so she stole his bone and ate it until he had figured out how to behave. She never defends her food otherwise. Once he had calmed down and relaxed and quietly started licking her ear, she gave it back. This is how exhausting it is to figure out how to behave around the ladies:
More coming soon!
